Natural Gas 101
Most residents of Utah rely on natural gas to heat their homes, and some residential consumers also use it in other appliances such as water heaters, stoves, and clothes dryers . Natural gas is delivered to consumers from wells located hundreds of miles away through a large and complex network of pipelines. Like our electric service, we expect natural gas to be available on demand with little thought on how that gas arrived at our homes. Below are information sources for the natural gas industry including an explanation of how your natural gas rates are set.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) provides a good overview of natural gas in its Energy Explained section .
The EIA is also an excellent source for natural gas data and statistics for the United States.
